On November 1st, we went to a costume birthday party. The kids got the chance to wear alternative costumes from the ones they wore trick or treating.
It was our friend, Maeve's, second birthday.
For sure a highlight of the party was their karaoke machine. So much so that I decided to get one for the kids for christmas this year (more on that later).
The following day we went to a Frozen birthday party for our friend, Lucy.
The kids had a lot of fun with their Halloween candy this year. I already posted a photo of Taylor and Grace trading candy on Halloween night, but the fun did not end there. The kids invented a game in which one person was blindfolded and handed a piece of candy. They then had to feel it and guess what it was. I tried it and was surprised to find that it was not as easy as it sounds! Unfortunately, tasting it to identify it was against the rules.
They also really enjoyed sorting their candy. Morgan liked to make pretend videos of herself sorting and talking about her candy.
Speaking of Morgan, here she is on Orange Day at preschool.
I got a great photography gig photographing a preschool of 158 students. I approached these school photos differently by using a black background and natural light. My goal was to capture authentic expressions. It was extremely well received by the parents and I've been asked to return next school year! I came a few days early to test the light in the room I was going to be using. Morgan was my model.
In mid-November we had a special encounter with Santa. My friend, Wendy, who is also a photographer offers these Santa sessions every year. It was our third year participating.
Santa showed us everywhere he travels on Christmas Eve.
Grandma gave the kids some soap paints a while back and the kids talked me into using them. When all was said and done, my shower and bath were very clean. I guess it was a win-win.
We did have one snow day in November which was very exciting for the kids.
Charlie's grade dressed up like Indians for their Thanksgiving feast at school.
Morgan was a Pilgrim for her school feast.
I went to a Xavier basketball game with some girl friends. While I was there, Mark texted me "we're sleeping in a pile tonight". This what what I came home to find. Can you find all three kids?
I suggested this domino set for Charlie's birthday and we had a lot of fun designing huge courses for these dominoes to take.
This moment warmed my heart: finding Charlie reading for pleasure on his own. I guess it just took the right book (in this case, a mindcraft book).
Morgan was being my model again while I set up lighting in my studio.
I took a mobile photography workshop online and took the next two photos on my iPhone.
Happy Birthday to me.
On Thanksgiving morning we watched the parade.
For the first year ever, we held Thanksgiving at the Williams' house. Mark cooked three kinds of turkey. Mmmmm...
The girls found a special Thanksgiving prayer online.
They also organized a play utilizing their siblings and cousins as the actors.
With Thanksgiving over, I pounced on the opportunity to start decorating for my absolute favorite time of year.
I had some help.
My mom's craft show is always the Saturday after Thanksgiving. She's been participating in this show for almost 20 years. She has a lot of helpers.
The girls organized a fundraiser this year and raised a lot of money for a child in need. I was quite proud of both of them.
One Sunday morning Charlie told me he fell and hit his head. I assumed it was just bruised until I noticed the dried blood in his hair at church. Upon further inspection at home, I learned he had a deep puncture wound in the back of his head. So for the third time in his seven years, Charlie and I came here.
Due to a previous incident in which Charlie tried to clean our mini iPad by running it under a faucet, he had been banned from electronics for a month. So he passed the time with his beloved minecraft book.
The result was one staple in the head.
