It started out well. The kids went back to school. What a strange feeling for my baby to be donning a school uniform and heading off to kindergarten.
We took the kids to the Ohio Renaissance Festival this year. We had bought the groupon last month so we figured it wouldn't count as unnecessary spending. It was a beautiful day and an entertaining one! Taylor's observation made me chuckle when she said "these people are kind of wacky."
Then our no-spending month took a little detour. Hours before we were to head down to Grandma and Grandpa's house in KY, we decided to take a look at a used Chevy Tahoe. We thought it would be a great tow vehicle if we ever decided to buy a camper. (Remember the one we looked at last month? Well, we decided that was a bit too small even for our pint sized family.) We probably would have waited if it hadn't been priced at such a good deal. So we snatched it up and then headed to KY for some family time.
Grandma Brenda thought it would be fun for the kids to bob for apples.
They really got into it. Literally!
It was such a great time spent together and I was so glad we came.
The next weekend it was time for the AHG backyard campout.
Taylor and Grace were in charge of the activities and they did a fantastic job!
The following day Mark and I drove to Dayton to pick up our next big purchase of the month. Yep, we bought a camper!! Again, I think it was the value that we couldn't resist. This new camper was the same price as that used, tiny camper we had looked at last month. Isn't she beautiful?
The best part is that it is the perfect size for our family. Here's a 'before' picture of the interior. I have since made it much more homey with curtains, pillows and more. I will have to take 'after' photos soon. But I got a little distracted by our following week's purchase. More on that in a moment...
Morgan needed a few weeks to adjust to kindergarten, but by the time open house rolled around she couldn't wait to show me everything in her classroom!
Charlie, on the other hand, needed no time at all to adjust to his new sport of flag football. He's a natural.
I spent a lovely afternoon with my big sister this month. We signed up for an art workshop and did monoprinting for half the day.
I really can't think of a better way to spend the day.
We made a point to take the camper out for it's inaugural trip before it got too cold.
Mark brought a bottle of prosecco and pretended to break it just like they do on a ship's maiden voyage.
I am so happy when I think of all the memories like these that await us with this camper.
Morgan and Charlie had a great time playing together on our trip.
These two preferred the companionship of their books.
Of course, I made sure to bring art supplies for our first trip!
I liked playing house and cooking in my tiny kitchen.
Although the kids would have been happy if we just hung out in and near our camper all day, I knew it was important that we also spend some time with mother nature.
Somewhere in between buying the camper and taking it out on it's first trip, we also made an offer on a house! Again, this was not necessarily planned, but it came across our radar and had everything we were looking for and more. And when I say more, I'm referring to this:
When our offer was accepted it set forth a flurry of activity while we prepared our current house for selling. It's been a whirlwind, but I can't wait to show more of our new house in the next post!
