In true grandma fashion, she brought crafts for the little ones. They loved making bracelets for all the family to wear.
Taylor and Grace demonstrated what they learned in Outdoor Cooking class at camp this summer. They started by making S'Mores in a cone.
Then they made cupcakes in an orange peel.
And if that wasn't enough, they even made pie!
A highlight of the trip was the kayaking excursion that Jessica and I took with the oldest girls.
While we were kayaking, Grandma and Aunt Jan took the younger kids to the nearby splash pad.
Grandpa came by for a visit on our first night.
So did Aunt Julie and Uncle Mark!
We had a great time and even snuck in some geocaching before heading home.
If you can believe it, Morgan turned SIX this summer! We headed to Chuck E Cheese's to celebrate.
Then we had family over to celebrate some more!
Of course, every summer is filled with lots and lots of trips to the pool. I am so thrilled that all my little ones can swim now. All those swim lessons have really paid off!
Mark wanted to take the sunset ferry ride over to Fort Sumter.
It ended up being a highlight of our trip because we had the rare opportunity to assist in the folding of the huge flag that flies at the fort.
A highlight for mark was eating fresh seafood.
We also snuck in a little kayaking. About 30 seconds into our trip we saw a dolphin emerge right next to my paddle!
This summer, I've been taking a class on film photography. Black and white week fell during our trip to Charleston.
When I came home I took some portraits of the kids.
Morgan taught me how to make bubble art. She learned from a book while I was in SC.
Finally, the even we'd been anticipating all summer arrived at the end of August- The Whispering Beard Folk Festival.
This music festival has become a family tradition. Mark (and now Taylor) work at my uncle's pizza stand while me and the kids explore the grounds and the music.
It rained a little but we hardly noticed.
Grandmama got some supplies for craft projects for Morgan for her birthday. They loved stenciling on letters to decorate their rooms.
Meanwhile, I taught myself brush lettering and watercolored with Morgan.
The end of august marked the beginning of another school year. And a huge transition for this peanut.
There's just nothing more exciting than the first day of school. Of course, my kids may disagree...

And after school they were all smiles.
