The First Month of Summer

Obviously I am a little behind on posting photos from the summer.  In contrast to the very minuscule following I have on this blog, I sure have taken a lot of slack for not posting in so long! Rest assured, I'm always taking pictures, but more importantly we're always making memories.  Like these from the last day of school when I picked the kids up while blaring "School's Out For Summer" and drove them directly to the Y for the summer's first swim.

And these memories of going to Daddy's softball games at a local park all summer:

Like father, like son.

We loved watching Morgan at her spring dance recital.

Taylor played sand volleyball for the first time with a team of her classmates.

And let's not forget our annual family campout with grandma and grandpa from KY!

Charlie riding Death Machine.

The kids participated in so many camps this summer and for some reason, they all fell in the first month of summer.

American Heritage Girls Sunset Camp:

Laffalot Camp:

Music Art Drama camp:

Cub Scot Day Camp:

Vacation Bible School:

Don't worry, amidst the hustle and bustle of varying camps, we always make room for some down time :)

Also this month I started truly embracing my inner artist.  I bought so many art supplies and just explored and played.  The best part was that the kids explored right along with me.  Here's the collaborative Father's Day sign we made for Mark.

Finally, I closed out the month with a little road trip to see The Cure with my friend, Maggie, and a pit stop in Asheville.

Phew! I don't know about you, but I feel better already for bringing my blog one step closer to being current :)  The next post will be here soon!

May Memories

May was a fun, relaxed month.

I enjoyed my last preschool Mother's Tea with Morgan this month.

Morgan is very quiet at school with the exception of singing.  Her teacher told me that she can always hear Morgan loud and clear whenever they sing songs as a class.  Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the mother's day songs they sang for us.

I went to the school's Walk A Thon this year to take some photos and cheer the kids on.

Morgan jumped in and helped write tally marks for the runners.

May 7th was a very special day when Charlie received his First Communion.

He picked out his own tie.

Charlie read a petition at the Mass.

Afterwards, we enjoyed time with family at home.

The next day I had a wonderfully relaxed and enjoyable Mother's Day.  First, Mark made a delicious breakfast for me and stacked the kids' cards next to my plate.

The kids made me a sweet banner, and we had a nice day playing games and spending time together.

That evening I spent the rest of my Mother's Day with my mama and sisters.  We had a great meal (prepared by my sweet big sister) and played cards together.

I had to work during the Mom Prom this week so Charlie invited his Grandmama to take him.  They had a wonderful time and Charlie even won the Limbo contest!

Charlie set up a fort at the end of his bed has been sleeping in it every night since then.

Aunt Jessica turned 40 this month.  We decided to show her just how loved she is by throwing her a big party to celebrate.

It was a great party that concluded with a dance party!

Morgan enjoyed her last day of school this month.

That night we celebrated her graduation.  It was a little emotional for me after spending 7 consecutive  years of having children go to this wonderful preschool.

Taylor had the special experience of going to some AVP games with her Grandmama this moth.

Mark spent the weekend helping out at J Damon's Wood Fired Pizza stand.

The res of us went to the Cubscouts family campout.

Since I couldn't take Charlie to Mom Prom, we had our own date night.  I let him choose what he wanted to do and he picked dinner and a movie.

We got to the movie theatre early so we entertained ourselves by taking photos with all the movie displays.

Finally we watched Alice, Through the Looking Glass in the Imax theatre in 3D.

The following weekend was another family campout sponsored by the AHG troop.

We didn't camp that night so we decided to set up a tent in our living room.

Every year we spend the day before Memorial Day in Indiana with the Damon's.

While we were there, we took a little trip to visit Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Roger's new store.

We decided to leave the tent up in the living room all weekend.

Overall it was a very lovely month with happy memories and good times spent together!
